Kurt Cobain

Once wrote "...she'll come back as fire and burn all the liars, leave a blanket of ash on the ground..." but I prefer to think of it like... "... she'll come back as fire to burn all the lies, leave a blanket of ash on the ground....". We are going to return with Christ and administer justice on this earth and everything that is sinful will be burned up in our re-entry. Stand clear of sin by turning to Jesus. Do it again and again. Ruling can happen today.

Inner-City Child & Youth Recovery Program

Hi, I greet you now as the Executive Director of Inner-City Child & Youth Recovery Program Inc. Regina. We are a non-profit charity that has been operating here for 15 years and are reaching out to children and youth for the sake of our community, North Central Regina. Please be informed that there is a need here. Our community is hurting and lives are truely at stake. Regina has recently become the homicide capital of our nation and needs this country's attention. Here is some happy children. We will see less and less of these if an effort is not made by someone who can make a difference.

France

I met a WWII vet this morning who was stationed in France during and after the war. He had little to say about the expiriance other than that he refuses to drink french vanilla coffee for fear of the french getting the royalties on the name. He was a member of a tank patrol while he served and is presently living in Canada and hanging out in places like the Zellers coffee shop. He likes discussing world issues such as the sponsership scandel and accordians. Cool guy.

Chilli for Children

Every lunch hour on Monday, Wednsday and Friday I work as a supervisor for Herchmer school. I walk about 25 children 2 blocks from their playground to the Albert Scott Community Center so they can attend the Chilli for Children program (RICA funded.) Its alot of work somedays. It can be really bleak to watch a fresh generation of young people struggle through the cold, resist the antics of the neighborhood bully, fight to gain the acceptance of their bewildered supvisor (myself), try to abide by the basic rules of the program and stay cool all the while.

But, in a way, it's a really special place to be. Touching the lives of young people, having lots of friends (and enemies somedays) or even just being an observer. I can see a generation set to take the helm of our society and steer it to the destination only they know. It's very mysterious to be a part of a childs life.

Sunny With a High of 75

Hi, this is one of the greatest christian rock albums this year. You must have it. You can't live without it. So well done and thank you very much to a great band and a great God. Highly recommended by myself. The rising action of the album (for me) is the song "I So Hate Consequences.." you can imagine what its about. The whole disk was recorded with a dropped half step tuning for those guitar freaks out there. Very impressive sound quality and tight instramentation. Lead guy Matthew Theisen is brilliant with themes and sound intensity - cover art gets a lower rating but please enjoy the whole ReliantK expirience. Check out their web site WWW.ReliantK.com for old releases. Blessings

Morning Star Youth Group

Here's a look at some of the teaching I've been doing for our wednsday nite sessions.
1) Your life and world are a kingdom and your future is territory to be conquered! Ephesians 6
2) Jesus the example of humility. Psalm 110
3) Hearing Gods voice for your life. Hebrews 3 and 4
4) The person of Jesus the Light of the World John 1
We will be looking at the person of the Holy Spirit in the weeks to come - Please keep us in prayer.

Need Help?

Addictions counseler Larry Larson from Winnipeg was in Regina over the weekend and did a series of teaching seminars on the journey up and out of the world of addictions. It got me thinking about my own addictions history and the meaning of what God has brought me out of. I found myself wondering about what behavours I have in my own life at present that could eventually become a problem. Like the potencial for relationships to move into unhealthy patterns. Please if you are reading this and feel like there is a problem in some tier of your life (ex. alcohol, drug use, co-dependency,pornography) know there is a way of escape.

Fresh IE : Yorkton

Fresh IE performed in Yorkton Saturday night for a crowd of about 150. A really nice turnout for the Yorkton Friendship Center. The performance was awesome and meaningful for me and others from Morning Star Church and youth group. Appreciate the opportunity to attend christian events and enjoy the expressions of worship offered up. We hope to have Freshie in Regina again at some point soon in the future!

Northern Girls?

We have had the recent pleasure of a new volunteer at Morning Star Youth Group. Miss Janice Friesen hailing all the way from Air Ronge Saskatchewan. Now living in Regina she has been with us the last several youth meetings and has been lots of fun. I'm encouraging her to come out as often as she feels comfortable and as long as she can stand the smell of our youth van.

James's Cardigan Performs @ Internation Coffee and Music Night

Chic drummers can really rock! Lannette beats it out sunday night while we performed 3 songs for a crowd of about 50 people along with Rap fave Eternalee and The House of Blessings church worship team. We played "Tell the World", "All My Trust" and debuted "Your the Start of a New Thing".

Only Forward

Can you stage dive with only 30 people there to catch you? This sparsely attended but bustin concert was held at Gateway Church on Pasqua St. Saturday night. Awesome onstage energy and great songs. Good expiramental attitudes from the band minus the typical morbid angst of modern alternative shows. Well written songs and a stellar sounding CD available. I give it 4 out of 5 Cardigans on the worthwhilelisteningto - ometer. Please support christian music. Rumor has it that Fresh I.E. will be in Yorkton on Saturday night if any are interested. Yo!

Fratelli's Restuarant Regina

Just had the most enjoyable lunch food of my entire month. Brusheda and a richly spiced pasta with a cup of coffee at Fratelli's Restaurant. A friend wandered in to top off the expiriance and good conversation ensued. I'm so happy about the whole thing I had to note it. If you get a chance check out this little cafe on Albert and 12th ave. Lunch is particularly exciting. Guten essen Bitte. Stay tuned for more food recommendations.

YQ Kickoff Night Rocked

Morning Star Youth Group attended the annual Youth Quake kick off night Wednsday night in Caronport and had an awesome time. I got no pictures because I forgot my camera but the theme for the evening was Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory. There was food, posters and prizes as well as the revealing of the ministring Bands and speakers for the Febuary Event. There we're about twelve from our church that attended the kickoff and we had a little van trouble but made it safely there and back.

I Fought the War?

Metric performs in Saskatoon monday night. What else is the lead singer talking about in her lyrics besides war? Shake your head it's empty. Move your hips, move your feet. The show was staged at Louis Pub on the U of S campus and was a sold out show. Opening acts were eclectic and angry with mounds of pop and on stage antics. A fairly easy going crowd of students in attendence including Theresa Sekyrka. Excellent guitar work on behalf of Metrics lead guitarman. The show had a single encore with some less known material from the Toronto based crew.
